Modoc 139 Drainage

The Project:

This drainage rehabilitation project is located near Newell in Modoc County on State Route 139 at various locations from the Lassen County line to the Siskiyou County line.

 

Project Benefits:

This project will repair or replace multiple culverts that have aging inserts or separated joints. The work is beyond routine maintenance. This project will improve drainage facilities help prevent culvert failures, which can cause flooding and expensive roadway damage.

Project Includes:

As part of this project, crews will use culvert liners to reinforce various existing culverts. Some existing culverts will be replaced with new and larger sized culverts. Changes to some road shoulders will need to be widened to allow continuous shoulder width. Rock Slope Protection will also be installed at various inlets and outlets as well as headwalls and Flared End Sections to help improve flow capacity.

Current Project Schedule:

There are an estimated 45 working days for this project. All working days will require traffic control. Construction is scheduled to occur between May and September of 2023.
