Poison Lake Shalas

The Project:

The Poison Lake Shalas Combine project in Lassen County is on State Route (SR) 44 about nine miles east of Old Station from the Shasta County line to SR 36.

Project Benefits:

The purpose of the project is to restore the facility to a state of good repair such that the roadway will be in a condition requiring minimal maintenance, and to improve safety/ roadway geometrics.

 

Project Includes:

This project will realign the existing highway to improve geometrics, superelevation, and increase the clear recovery zone for vehicles. This project includes earthwork, paving and drainage improvements. The project also includes a Capital Preventative Maintenance (CAPM) pavement strategy on SR 44 from postmile 0.0 to 37.2.  The scope of the project includes 0.2’ overlay through the length of the project, paving of four maintenance vehicle pullouts, reconstruction of railroad approaches, replacing 16 drainage systems, upgrading guardrail, installing 45 guide signs, and replacing Census Elements while upgrading and relocating CCTV.

 

Current Project Schedule:

It is estimated this project will take 110 workings days, with all days requiring traffic control. Construction is scheduled to resume in spring of 2024.
