Program Overview

The goal of Interagency Coordination is to improve the effectiveness of coordination and partnership between federal and state agencies, regional and local agencies, private and non-profit organizations, and advocacy groups. Interagency Coordination will assist all stakeholders by establishing open and ongoing communication to:

  • Promote human services transportation coordination
  • Improve mobility choices for targeted consumers
  • Implement the Mobility Management Plan

Interagency Coordination aims to provide mobility choice options to the general public with particular emphasis on transportation services for older adults, individuals with disabilities and those with low incomes.

Caltrans partnered with small and rural transit agencies to provide assistance in connecting to Google Transit so that the public could better access transit schedule and route information. The completed activities are documented in the two reports below:

coordinated plans

Caltrans Projects funded under the Elderly Individuals and Individuals with Disabilities (Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Section 5310), Job Access Reverse Commute (JARC), and New Freedom Programs are required to be “derived from a locally developed, coordinated public transit-human services transportation plan” and the plan be “developed through a process that includes representatives of public, private, and non-profit transportation and human services providers and participation by members of the public (FTA Circular 9070.1).”
